Historic Boardwalk T-Shirt: A Leap Into the Past
Sales begin @ noon on Saturday, July 22
Demolition of the storm-damaged Sandwich Boardwalk began in July. It has been hard for many to say goodbye to the iconic structure. In particular, two aspects of the lost boardwalk evoke nostalgia - its rich history (despite several rebuilds through the years) and the tradition of children jumping from it into the marsh below, a favorite summertime activity for both residents and visitors.

FRONT
To commemorate the old boardwalk, FOSTA is offering one-of-a-kind t-shirts imprinted with an historic color photo of the “plank walk,” as it was once known.
If you would like to “take a leap into the past” and purchase a boardwalk t-shirt, they will be available for purchase starting at noon on Saturday, July 22.
FOSTA, a non-profit organization devoted to helping preserve Sandwich’s historic treasures, first opted to design and sell the t-shirts as a fundraiser for the Town Archives, but decided it was equally important to keep the price affordable so that more people might be able to enjoy wearing or making a gift of this fun item.

Historic Jenny Jones Map of Old Sandwich Village & Glass Factory Days
The Friends of the Sandwich Town Archives are excited to offer this hand drawn map of Sandwich. The historic map was hand drawn by Jenny Jones (Jane Bradford Jones) in 1939 during one of the restorations of the 1834 Town Hall. The map depicts Sandwich Village in 1825, the year the Boston and Sandwich Glass Works opened in what is now Jarvesville. Restoration of the map was performed by the North East Document Conservation Center.
The map measures 21" x 17" and is available in watercolor or black and white.
(The black and white version may be painted or decorated with colored pencil by the purchaser. The sale of this map was very popular in 1939 and many residents chose to decorate the map with water colors.)

Colored map - $25
Black and white map - $20
Additional $10 S&H per item within the U.S.

Sandwich A Cape Cod Town by Russell A. Lovell, Jr.
First published in 1984, this updated edition is now available for purchase.
Settled in 1637 by families from the Saugus Plantation near Boston, Sandwich has acquired a unique character all its own. From its people, to its natural shoreline and wooded landscape, to its history with the early Indian neighbors and visiting Quakers, the Town of Sandwich is truly unique. As the oldest town on Cape Cod, Sandwich embraces its history and is proud that many of its families have played a large roll in settling other parts of New England and beyond. This book presents the history of Sandwich with the use of original town and Colony records, diaries, wills and deeds. It is illustrated with photographs, drawings, maps and charts, as well as an extensive bibliography. Sandwich, A Cape Cod Town offers a wealth of historical information on a town built by the ocean and molded by the people who lived there.
